Bottom fishing

Throughout the year, the increasingly popular bottom meet is in full swing!

We then mainly fish for different kinds of flatfish. The most common species are plaice, flounder and sand flounder. Bonus fish such as haddock, whiting, whiting, turbot, plaice, flounder and cod, etc. are also usually attracted by the worm on the hooks, this makes bottom fishing a very exciting fishing!

Depending on temperatures, etc. so the depth varies. Fishing is most common at between 8-12 meters, but sometimes you also search out at depths of up to 30 meters.
To succeed in this fishing, you need a bottom hook. The most common is to have 2 hooks, one as a hanger above the weight and then one as a trailer after the weight.
By far the best bait is sandworm or brush worm. Sometimes some people choose to supplement with different kinds of shrimp.

When you book a fishing trip with us, you can also order a brush worm/sand snake. These are bought at Nyhamns Fiske o Marin, which is located directly next to the fishing boats.
A jar contains 10-12 worms and costs SEK 40 each. Beginners usually take about 3 cans, the more experienced fisherman takes between 5-10 cans. One thing is for sure, fresh and nice worm brings more fish!
When measuring the bottom, it is important to choose the right equipment, but also to find the right fishing method. It is an advantage to have a fishing rod that is a little thinner at the top so that you can feel when you are in contact with the fish. Always tightrope!

A common mistake made by both beginners and more experienced fishermen is to jerk hard when you feel the fish nibbling on the bait. Then you often pull the hook and bait out of the fish’s mouth. It is necessary to have some ice in the stomach and let the fish chew on it and then lift the bottom bait slowly from the bottom. If you then feel that the fish is hanging on, you can jerk a little carefully. And don’t forget, always taut line!

If you need to rent equipment, it is available in the store.
